Safety and Security Habits (SASH) for Educators Overview
Designed for all educators and support staff to understand the basics of personal protection and how that translates into the school. This is a one-day course that comes with a SASH handbook.
- This is the perfect course for those wanting to give the basics, in detail, to all their staff. The first half of the course talks about concepts of personal protection: Awareness, the Law of Primacy, Cover, Concealment and movement.
- The second half is designed to support schools and their individual emergency procedures.
- The personal responsibility of staff during Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter-in-place.
- The proper method of evacuating and utilization of their emergency kits.
- Levels of awareness and what to look for when travelling, visiting public spaces and even online.
Your teachers’ primary job is to teach. They shouldn’t have to worry about everything, but everybody needs to be prepared for emergency situations.
I will work with you to identify those key emergency and security measures and scenarios on which you want every staff person trained. Some examples may include:
- Emergency simulations
- Active shooter protocols and response
- Bomb threat response
- Evacuations for both active shooter and fire
- Shelter-In Place Operations
- Violent individuals
- Modified Lockdown/Secure and Teach and Full Lock-downs
Teachers and staff have many different roles, not the least of which is keeping our children safe. We will help you equip them with the knowledge and skills so that all staff can feel more confident in a crisis situation while maintaining a healthy, positive learning environment.
If schools were permitted to have just one training, this is the one!
This training will help to raise test scores for your students, decrease discipline challenges, and improve classroom rapport. You will learn how to meet students where they are and lead them where they need to be, capture attention, and promote deeper learning.
